Hello all you colleagues! After months and months of having joining this blog on my list of things to do, I have finally done it. Since read those four million journal articles, write that paper, think about what to do with that client, and study for that comprehensive final are off the list, I have time to get to the important things. Thanks again Susanne for creating this place for us all to stay connected. It is a fabulous idea.
I have just returned from a very relaxing and interesting week in Victoria, BC. Three of my friends came up for graduation, and then we went up to Canada and spent a week in a time-share condo overlooking a gaggle of sailboats. We had High Tea at the Empress, saw Butchart Gardens in the day and at night with all of the Christmas lights, and ate lunch at a quaint restaurant named McMorran's right on the water where we were entertained by the owner, an 85-year-old man named Eric whose father built the restaurant. Eric used to run the place, but now his son does that while Eric is the parking guy. If I had the pictures and knew how to post them I would. : ) We also shopped in the rain and listened to many foreign accents and played cards and missed the killer storm that raged around here and had an all-around splendid time.
I did come home to a lot of shingles and branches in my yard, but the power was back on and my pipes were unfrozen, so I was happy. Now my friends have gone home, and I do have a lot to do, but am just enjoying the day and not even thinking about looking for a job. The branches are even still on the lawn.
It's a wonderful day.
